Add New PI

Go to Add New PI from the Studies menu, fill in the required fields and click Add.


Person ID: If this person does not yet have a person id, please use their MRN account name, or create one according to the following model: John Harper Doe = JDOE. Note: this ID will be used in archive file structure (e.g. .../dicom/triotim/{Person ID}/study/...) . There will be a check on the ID entered to ensure that it is unique. If it is not, you will see a red X and a message indicating that you need to enter a unique ID. If it is unique you will see a green check mark. Spaces are not allowed in the Person ID.

Site: the COINS site to which the PI is associated
Department: (e.g., Neurology, Psychiatry, etc.)        
Institution: the institution to which the PI is associated (e.g., a PI’s site is MRN but their institution is the University of New Mexico)

If there is a similar PI that exists in the database you will be provided a list of possible matches. If you see a match, select the matching PI and click Continue. If the PI does not appear on the match list select None of the above, please use the information I originally specified. and click Continue.

Every PI has an associated Alias in the database. After adding a PI, enter an alias. Aliases are four letters or numbers long and usually follow the following syntax: John Harper Doe = JHD1. There will be a check on the alias entered to ensure that it is unique. If it is not, you will see a X and a message indicating that you need to enter a unique alias. If it is unique you will see a .

After you click Continue you will receive a message indicating that the PI has been added.
